About the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Established in 1918 and operational since 1919, the TCCI is one of Greece’s most influential economic institutions. As the second-largest Chamber in the country, it has been instrumental in shaping the development of Thessaloniki and the broader region. Its legacy includes pivotal contributions such as the establishment of the Thessaloniki International Fair, the modernization of the Thessaloniki Port Authority, and the founding of educational institutions like the University of Macedonia.

Today, the TCCI represents approximately 25,000 active members, whose businesses account for 50% of Greek exports from Thessaloniki and its surrounding areas. The Chamber continues to promote innovation and economic growth through initiatives that empower its members to adapt to evolving market and technological trends.

TRUSTFOOD in the Polytechnic of Šibenik!

Last week, DIH AgriFood Croatia had the distinct pleasure of presenting the TRUSTFOOD Project to a group of talented students at the Polytechnic of Šibenik. This event was an incredible opportunity to engage with the next generation of innovators about the transformative potential of blockchain technology in the food supply chain.

Their discussions focused on how blockchain can revolutionize the food industry by enhancing transparency, traceability, and security. Upskill and Reskill in the Food Supply Chain Sector with TRUSTFOOD’s Cutting-Edge Blockchain Training Courses 

The TRUSTFOOD project, part of the Digital Europe initiative, is proud to announce the launch of its specialised training courses, designed to boost the digital skills of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) owners, managers, employees, and job seekers in the food supply chain sector. These courses focus on Blockchain technologies and their transformative potential within the industry. 

As the food supply chain evolves, so does the need for advanced digital skills. TRUSTFOOD is stepping in to bridge this skills gap by offering a suite of courses aimed at empowering participants to understand and harness Blockchain’s capabilities in the food sector. By integrating practical knowledge with real-world applications, these courses will equip professionals to tackle challenges and leverage opportunities in the rapidly digitising food supply chain. 

The available courses, 20 in total, cover a wide range of topics, including:

Successful candidates will receive a certificate of completion, one they complete the relevant quizzes for all lessons in a course. This certification will verify their newly acquired skills and knowledge—credentials that can significantly enhance their career prospects within the food supply chain industry.

Evaluating a Blockchain Training Course for Food Supply Chain Stakeholders

As part of the TRUSTFOOD project, the paper titled “Evaluating a Blockchain Training Course for Food Supply Chain Stakeholders” was accepted for presentation at the 17th Annual International Conference of Education, Research, and Innovation. The conference will be held in Seville, Spain, from November 11 to 13, 2024.

Authored by professors Karetsos, Demestichas, and Costopoulou, the paper examines the effectiveness of a blockchain training course specifically designed for stakeholders in the food supply chain. The research evaluates how the course can improve participants’ understanding of blockchain applications in ensuring transparency, and traceability in the food industry.

Blockchain-based Traceability Solutions in Fisheries: Insights from Greece

As part of the TRUSTFOOD initiative, a paper titled “Blockchain-based Traceability Solutions in Fisheries: Insights from Greece” was accepted for presentation at the Inaugural International Conference Circular Economy: The Pathway Towards a Sustainable Development. The conference will take place in Chania, Greece, from September 11 to 13, 2024.

The paper, authored by professors Karetsos, Demestichas, Costopoulou, and Pantelis, focuses on how blockchain technology can enhance traceability in the fisheries sector, offering insights based on case studies from Greece. The research highlights the potential of blockchain to support sustainable fishing practices by ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain.

TRUSTFOOD in AGRA 2024!

From August 24th to 29th, Green Point participated at the 62nd International Fair of Agriculture and Food (AGRA) in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia. AGRA 2024 is the largest agri-food fair in Slovenia.

Throughout the fair, Green Point informed various stakeholders about the TRUSTFOOD project, which delivers short-term training courses for upskilling and reskilling the labour force, with a particular focus on SMEs’ owners, managers, and employees in the Food Supply Chain (FSC) sector.
