We are pleased to announce a strategic partnership between TRUSTFOOD and the FOODGUARD project, uniting two leading European initiatives committed to enhancing innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation within the agri-food sector.
TRUSTFOOD, a Digital Europe Programme project, focuses on upskilling and reskilling the agri-food workforce—particularly SMEs—through practical training in blockchain and other digital technologies. Its mission is to empower food supply chain actors with advanced digital competencies to improve transparency, traceability, and trust across the industry.
FOODGUARD, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, aims to develop and demonstrate co-created solutions based on microbiome applications, microbial activities, and technology hubs to address food, health, economic, and environmental challenges. The project envisions a framework of toolsets and methodologies to provide sustainable solutions in food processing, packaging, and across the food value chain to address food shelf-life increase and waste reduction holistically .
This partnership brings together TRUSTFOOD’s expertise in digital skills development and blockchain applications with FOODGUARD’s innovative approaches to food preservation and waste reduction. By collaborating, the two projects aim to create synergies that will accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies and best practices among SMEs in the agri-food sector.
Key areas of collaboration include:
- Integrated Training Modules: Developing comprehensive training programs that combine TRUSTFOOD’s digital skills curriculum with FOODGUARD’s insights into sustainable food processing and packaging.
- Joint Pilot Projects: Implementing pilot demonstrations that showcase the practical applications of blockchain technology in enhancing food shelf-life and reducing waste, leveraging the methodologies developed by FOODGUARD.
- Knowledge Exchange: Facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices between the two projects to foster innovation and drive systemic change in the agri-food industry.
This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our shared commitment to building a more resilient, sustainable, and digitally empowered agri-food sector in Europe.
