TRUSTFOOD is dedicated to enhancing the advanced digital skills of the workforce, particularly within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and among job seekers. We offer access to high-quality, specialized training courses that reflect the latest advancements in Blockchain technologies as they relate to the Food Supply Chain.

Our courses are designed to be highly practical, providing in-depth knowledge of key digital technologies and their applications within the Food Supply Chain. We also prioritize the needs of job seekers in this rapidly evolving field.

Available in English, Greek, Italian, Romanian, Slovenian, Ukrainian, and Lithuanian, our courses cater to a diverse audience. You can explore our offerings here.

Additionally, our comprehensive handbooks will serve as valuable resources to guide you through the courses.

Upon successful completion of each course, participants will receive a certification, contingent on passing the final quizzes.

Evaluating a Blockchain Training Course for Food Supply Chain Stakeholders

As part of the TRUSTFOOD project, the paper titled “Evaluating a Blockchain Training Course for Food Supply Chain Stakeholders” was accepted for presentation at the 17th Annual International Conference of Education, Research, and Innovation. The conference will be held in Seville, Spain, from November 11 to 13, 2024.

Authored by professors Karetsos, Demestichas, and Costopoulou, the paper examines the effectiveness of a blockchain training course specifically designed for stakeholders in the food supply chain. The research evaluates how the course can improve participants’ understanding of blockchain applications in ensuring transparency, and traceability in the food industry.

Blockchain-based Traceability Solutions in Fisheries: Insights from Greece

As part of the TRUSTFOOD initiative, a paper titled “Blockchain-based Traceability Solutions in Fisheries: Insights from Greece” was accepted for presentation at the Inaugural International Conference Circular Economy: The Pathway Towards a Sustainable Development. The conference will take place in Chania, Greece, from September 11 to 13, 2024.

The paper, authored by professors Karetsos, Demestichas, Costopoulou, and Pantelis, focuses on how blockchain technology can enhance traceability in the fisheries sector, offering insights based on case studies from Greece. The research highlights the potential of blockchain to support sustainable fishing practices by ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain.

TRUSTFOOD in AGRA 2024!

From August 24th to 29th, Green Point participated at the 62nd International Fair of Agriculture and Food (AGRA) in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia. AGRA 2024 is the largest agri-food fair in Slovenia.

Throughout the fair, Green Point informed various stakeholders about the TRUSTFOOD project, which delivers short-term training courses for upskilling and reskilling the labour force, with a particular focus on SMEs’ owners, managers, and employees in the Food Supply Chain (FSC) sector.

TRUSTFOOD Interview Series

The clustering interview was hosted online by the University of Nicosia in June 2024. where the UNIC team interviewed Dr. Marianna Faraldi, coordinator of TRUSTyFOOD. During the interview, both projects presented their overviews and objectives. Both sides quickly identified the common points between the two projects. Dr. Marianna Faraldi invited TRUSTFOOD to join TRUSTyFOOD’s skills development initiative and proposed co-organising an event together. She also emphasized the importance of synergy and a unified approach between TRUSTFOOD and TRUSTyFOOD, highlighting the need for both projects to collaborate towards shared goals and avid working in isolation.  The UNIC team also suggested the possibility of establishing a joint innovation hub of the two projects, and co-authoring white papers focusing on blockchain applications in the agrifood sector as potential starting points.

Building a Course on Blockchain Applications for Food Quality Assurance and Certification – Approach and Lessons Learned

As part of the TRUSTFOOD project, a paper titled “Building a Course on Blockchain Applications for Food Quality Assurance and Certification – Approach and Lessons Learned” was accepted for presentation at the 16th Annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies. The conference was held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, from July 1st to 3rd, 2024.

The paper, authored by professors Karetsos, Demestichas, and Costopoulou, explores the development of a course designed to educate the labour force on blockchain’s role in ensuring food quality and transparency. It outlines the approach taken, as well as key lessons learned during the course’s creation.

TRUSTFOOD and Arsakeio school students!

As part of our ongoing school visit initiative, TRUSTFOOD was recently featured during a Summer School hosted at the University of Patras. This engaging session welcomed a group of enthusiastic students from Arsakeio School, who were keen to learn about and interact with our project. The students’ eagerness to delve into the innovative aspects of TRUSTFOOD highlighted their curiosity and commitment to understanding the role of technology in advancing agrifood systems.

TRUSTFOOD in FRIETS workshop!

TRUSTFOOD was presented by REZOS as a sister initiative during the FRIETS workshops that took place in Limassol, Cyprus in June 2024.  

FRIETS, a Horizon 2020 project running from September 1st, 2021 to August 31st, 2025, aims to develop novel processed berries with superior quality and nutritional characteristics and extended shelf-life. FRIETS will introduce functional fruits suitable for personalized nutrition as well as for individuals suffering from obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and athletes.  

TRUSTFOOD’s emphasis on trustworthy food systems aligns with FRIETS’ objective to develop berries with superior nutritional characteristics and extended shelf-life, ensuring consumers receive high-quality and safe products. From this point of view, the two projects can co-organise an event dedicated to blockchain applications in the berries supply chain.
